The lowlands of the Thames at Lechlade are my current limits for walks. I took this picture a few days ago of a Saxon stone carving in the nearby redundant church at Inglesham .
In its day of course it would have had colour as bright as Ganesh. But here it is, taken from its original weather-beaten outdoor setting with colour long gone and worse for wear. But it still emanates a visceral spirit from its core. The hand of God is still plainly visible and in a strange way it connects us to the hand of the carver, its creator.
